General update

A lot has happened over the last few months but most importantly I got a job in Dinamo Productions working on a new Cbeebies show as a CG generalist / Rigger. I’ve been there a little over 3 months now and I’m loving it. Even Though I’m In Dinamo practically full time, I have to finish my 3rd year of my BA course. Luckily we were able to find a nice compromise between work and Uni so I will be able to finish my course

Apart from Dinamo and Uni stuff, I’ve started a new personal project which should eventually be backbone of my showreel. It’s … well… a creature. Crazy combination monkey – tigery – tarzany thingy. Something in a style of mutated baboons from Sound of Thunder. I’ve done just a few sketches before jumping straight to mudbox. Here is the outcome so far after around 18 hours of sculpting, changing, re-sculpting, changing and re-sculpting again.

He will be slightly more athletic at the end so quite a lot of muscle mass will go. Also hands and feet are just a placeholders as I haven’t decided what to do with them yet. He’ll need to be retopologised soon because my laptop wouldn’t cope with higher subdivision, therefore additional detailing will be done afterwards.  I will tone down muscle definition at the end after I establish all the muscle groups. Sculpting is not really a strong skill of mine and I’m really looking forward to rigging this guy. That’s gonna be a proper challenge.

Eventually he should end up completely rigged (with muscles), textured with proper shaders, animated and composited into live action plate. A lot of work ahead of me.
