Starting advanced tech

This week we’ve started 3 week advanced techniques project in which we’re supposed to build a character, texture it and rig it. I’m making character for my “mad scientist” animation. It is highly cartoony character with very flexible spine, bud also conical flexible head. This is going to be a bit of a challenge when it comes to rigging, because I’ll have to come up with solution which combines stretchy-bendy head while also allowing full facial animation. I’ve started on him today, so here is progress so far.

Apart from that, we’ve also been doing class exercise which involved modelling our own head. We had afternoon to make it and it’s only worth 5% so the main point was to establish some basic correct topology, which would deform nicely later and essentially getting as close to recognizable face as possible. I’ve actually spent a little more time on it than necessary but I’m quite happy with outcome.
I look pretty creepy without ears and hair that’s for sure
