WFT time calculator & AnimTimer

I’ll do a second post today, because I just want to share something I find really useful all the time.

When I’m getting reference footage off the internet, it’s quite often in different framerates than what I work with (25 FPS). Sometimes (like now) I want to know exact timing from the reference footage and it’s quite a pain to calculate 25 to 30 FPS equivalent timing. I’ve found one great little calculator which does it for you and converts time between all commonly used frame rates and timecodes (NTSC, PAL, film, ftg).
You can download it here: Timecode calculator

Another one is for iPhone users. It’s a stopwatch for animators which apart from seconds shows time also in frames and footage length. I’ve been using it for a year now and it’s simply awesome. You make intervals by either tapping the screen or shaking the device and it shows frame in time when the moment occurs, but also the hold between the two moments. It used to be just £1.79 If I remember well, but even for the current price of £2.99, I still think it’s a bargain for animator.
So if you ever wanted to measure time in frames…Well there’s an app for that ;).
You can check it out here: Animation Timer
